Europe’s financial services industry saw a rise of 13.89% in cross border deal activity during August 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Apex AcquisitionLimited’s $2.07bn acquisition of Sanne Group, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 41 financial services industry cross border deals worth $3.8bn were announced for the region in August 2021, against the 12-month average of 36 deals.

Of all the deal types, M&A saw most activity in August 2021 with 23 transactions, representing a 56.1% share for the region.

In second place was venture financing with 13 deals, followed by private equity deals with five transactions, respectively capturing a 31.7% and 12.2% share of the overall cross border deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of cross border deals, M&A was the leading category in Europe’s financial services industry with $2.72bn, while venture financing and private equity deals totalled $959.03m and $100m, respectively.
