Capital One – set to become the seventh largest US
bank by assets once it assumes the US unit of ING Direct and the US
cards division of HSBC – has agreed a deal with online social games
developer, Zynga, designed to boost its social media activity.
Capital One has kicked off a three-game
promotion, marking the first time a brand has simultaneously
engaged across multiple Zynga studios.
From 20 September, CityVille players
will be able to place the very first branded Capital One Bank in
their city. FarmVille and The Pioneer Trail
players will be able to interact with the goat from Capital One’s
commercials, which is being introduced in both games as one of many
in-game incentives.
According to Capital One, each in-game
promotion delivers a unique Capital One experience and directs
players to Capital One’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/capitalone)
to learn more about exclusive items.
Capital One ranks third in terms of Facebook ‘likes’ in the banking
sector.
