The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.18% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.11% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60.68% in September 2021, registering an 11.37% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 21.05% share, an increase of 8.33% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.25%, registering a 17.39% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 5.09%, up 53.49% over the previous month.

Top five banking and payments companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 5.86% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s banking and payments industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Barclays posted 166 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 36.07% over the previous month, followed by JPMorgan Chase with 151 jobs and a 6.79% drop. Citigroup with 130 IT jobs and Nationwide Building Society with 89 jobs, recorded a 9.72% decline and a 25.35% flat growth, respectively, while NatWest Group recorded a decline of 10.64% with 42 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.08%, down by 8.29% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.81% share, registered a decline of 18.93% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.02% share, up 15.19% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 4.09%, recording a month-on-month decline of 24.29%.
