Allied Irish Bank (AIB) has brought Hitachi Digital Systems on board as part of an effort to overhaul its digital strategy.
AIB says it has simplified its data storage systems using Hitachi’s virtual storage platform and will also be using its content platform and command suite technologies.

Padraic Hamrock, the bank’s head of infrastructure and technology operations, said: "Our partnership with Hitachi Data Systems is in alignment with our commitment to build AIB into a technology-led bank delivering consistent, flexible and cost effective services to our businesses and customers."
Hitachi has also helped AIB to roll out a dashboard interface across the bank, making its online systems user friendly for staff.
The deal with Hitachi Digital Systems is only the latest step in the Irish bank’s effort to bring itself up to speed with digital age channels.
In November AIB embraced start-up culture by setting itself a deadline to create a mortgage processing mobile app from scratch in 13 weeks and in March the bank opened a concept store in Dublin to develop customer use of digital banking channels.
