The UK held a 1.5% share of the global financial services industry M&A deal value that totalled $18.64bn in Q2 2020.

In terms of deal activity, the UK recorded 52 deals during Q2 2020, marking a drop of 27.8% over the previous quarter and a drop of 28.8% over the last four-quarter average.

The combined value of the top five financial services M&A deals stood at $215.32m, against the overall value of $273.97m recorded for the month.

The top five financial services industry deals of Q2 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) Singapore Exchange’s $127.38m acquisition of BidFX

2) The $25.32m acquisition of Nami Holding (Cayman) by Hebron Technology

3) MICT’s $25m acquisition of Global Fintech Holdings

4) The $22.14m acquisition of Sterling Trust Financial Consulting by Kingswood Holdings

5) China Yueda Group’s acquisition of Stepwide Developments for $15.48m.
