US-based Discover Bank has rolled out Zelle Person-to-Person (P2P) money transfers for its customers.

The service will enable the Discover Bank customers to carry out direct money transfers to any bank account in the US.

The P2P money transfers are now live on the lender’s mobile app and online account centre for checking, savings and money market account customers.

Discover vice-president of deposits Ram Subramanian said: “Giving Discover Bank customers the ability to send and receive money between friends and family is a natural extension of our commitment to offer a seamless, full-service digital banking experience.

“We are continually listening to what our customers say and are excited to offer Zelle to improve their banking experience.”

Typically, the service enables money transfers within minutes, when the sender and recipient are enrolled with Zelle.

Additionally, it enables money transfers using the beneficiary’s mobile phone number or email address. Accordingly, it eliminates the need to share sensitive account information bolstering payment security.

The service also allows the user to request money from others.

Through the Discover mobile app, customers can also deposit cheques, pay bills and find the nearest ATM.

The app also allows customers to temporarily freeze their debit card when misplaced or lost.

Owned and operated by Discover Financial Services, Discover Bank provides consumer banking services.
