Ulster Bank has said that it will hire additional 350 staff at its call centre in Belfast, to handle calls from its parent company RBS and sister bank NatWest customers.

To accommodate the new staff, the bank has decided to invest £300,000 in additional office space at Belfast Direct Customer Contact Centre, which currently employs 250 people and handles calls and web chats from Ulster Bank customers.

Ellvena Graham, head of Ulster Bank Northern Ireland, said the decision by RBS to locate the jobs in Belfast "is a welcome recognition of the excellent standards that have been set by the Ulster Bank team in Danesfort."

Ulster Bank, which slashed 350 jobs in Northern Ireland in 2012, returned to profit last year and workers getting a pay rise for the first time since 2011 in April.
