PNC Bank plans to eliminate about 777 jobs at the former FirstBank headquarters in Lakewood following its takeover of the Colorado-based bank, reported KDVR.
According to a WARN filing submitted to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Employment & Training Division, the reductions will affect staff at 12345 West Colfax Avenue.

“We have been in direct communication with PNC/FirstBank to better understand workforce needs and to offer support resources for jobseekers,” city officials said.
“PNC/FirstBank has been headquartered in Lakewood for more than 60 years and employs approximately 4,326 individuals in the state as of 2025. We remain committed to working collaboratively with PNC/FirstBank, as one of our primary employers in Lakewood, to ensure that affected employees have access to the tools, services and opportunities they need during this transition.”
The job cuts are scheduled to begin at the end of June.
The filing was also sent to Lakewood Mayor Wendi Strom.
In comments to FOX31, the city said it was working with state and county agencies to “deploy rapid response services for employees affected by these potential layoffs across the state.”
PNC disclosed the FirstBank acquisition in September. The deal, completed in January, made PNC the biggest bank in the Denver market.
The filing did not identify which jobs would be removed.
It said the West Colfax site would remain in use, with other employees continuing to work there.
FirstBank, usually branded as 1stBank, was a mid-sized lender with 120 retail branches and $26.7bn in assets. After the acquisition, PNC’s assets rose to about $575bn.
In September, the bank said it would keep all FirstBank branches and customer-facing branch teams, “ensuring continuity for customers, employees and the communities FirstBank serves.”
In a statement to FOX31, a PNC spokesperson said: “As part of the integration process, we have done a careful review of roles with FirstBank and PNC and where overlap occurs. This has resulted in organisational changes, primarily in Colorado.
PNC currently is retaining all client-facing roles. Impacted employees are encouraged to apply for open roles within PNC and some have already accepted new roles.
“While these decisions are never easy, we believe they will help us more effectively deliver for our clients.”
